Variant grouping

Fold separate Lightspeed items for each size or color into a single Shopify product with variants, review-first.

Lightspeed stores each size and color as its own item. On Shopify, shoppers expect one product with a size or color selector. Syncwright bridges that gap with variant grouping.

The problem it solves

A single jersey in three sizes and two colors can be six separate items in Lightspeed. Imported one to one, that becomes six lonely Shopify products. Variant grouping folds them into one product with variants, the way customers expect to shop.

How it works

  1. Syncwright detects items that look like one product family, using shared attributes such as style, brand, and naming.
  2. It proposes a grouped Shopify product with the right size and color variants.
  3. You review the proposed group.
  4. On approval, Syncwright creates one product with variants and keeps each variant’s stock tied to its Lightspeed item.

Grouping is always review-first. You see the proposed product and its variants before anything is created, so a wrong guess never reaches your storefront.

Inventory stays correct

Each variant maps back to its own Lightspeed item, so on-hand counts stay accurate per size and color. Selling a medium in-store reduces only the medium online.

When a group looks wrong

  • Split a group if two unrelated items were pulled together.
  • Merge items Syncwright kept separate.
  • Adjust and re-approve. Your changes guide how Syncwright handles the rest of that family.
