Field-level sync policy

Control every product field independently: ignore, fill only when empty, or keep it matched, all blank-safe.

The sync policy is how you keep inventory following Lightspeed while merchandising stays yours in Shopify. You set a rule for each field, and Syncwright follows it on every pass.

The three rules

For each product field you choose one of:

RuleWhat Syncwright does
IgnoreNever touches the field. Shopify wins, always.
Fill if emptyWrites from Lightspeed only when Shopify has no value, then leaves it alone.
OverwriteKeeps the field matched to Lightspeed on every sync.

A common setup: inventory is overwrite so stock stays accurate, titles and descriptions are fill if empty so your Shopify copy is never clobbered, and images are ignored once you have merchandised them.

Blank-safe by default

Syncwright is blank-safe: an empty value in Lightspeed will not wipe a good value in Shopify. A missing description or a blank price in your point of sale never erases the work you have done on your storefront.

Blank-safe means a gap in your POS data can never delete your Shopify content. The worst an empty field can do is nothing.

Setting your policy

  1. Open Sync policy in Syncwright.
  2. For each field, pick ignore, fill if empty, or overwrite.
  3. Save. The policy applies on the next sync and every sync after.

Choosing sensible defaults

  • Keep inventory and barcode on overwrite so matching and stock stay reliable.
  • Use fill if empty for copy you may improve in Shopify later.
  • Use ignore for anything you have finished merchandising and never want changed.

You can revisit these rules at any time. Changing a rule takes effect on the following sync.
