Getting started with Syncwright

Connect Lightspeed Retail R-Series to Shopify, choose what to sync, and go live without overselling.

Syncwright keeps your Lightspeed Retail R-Series point of sale and your Shopify store in step: inventory, catalog, and orders, with no overselling. This guide takes you from install to your first clean sync.

Before you begin

You will need:

  • A Lightspeed Retail R-Series account with admin access
  • A Shopify store where you can install apps
  • About 30 minutes for the first setup

Syncwright treats Lightspeed as the source of truth for inventory and Shopify as authoritative for merchandising. That split is what keeps stock accurate online while your storefront presentation stays under your control.

The five steps

  1. Install from your private link. Request it on the get started form, then see Connect Shopify.
  2. Authorize Lightspeed R-Series. See Connect Lightspeed.
  3. Settle the one-time invoice. One payment, no subscription. See Pricing and buying.
  4. Choose what to sync. Products, collections, and fields, on your terms. See Choose what to sync.
  5. Review and approve. Variant groups, smart collections, and image fixes wait for your approval before anything writes to Shopify.

Once you approve the first batch, Syncwright pushes accurate on-hand counts to Shopify and keeps them current in the background.

What syncs, and in which direction

  • Inventory flows from Lightspeed to Shopify, continuously, so you never sell stock you already sold in-store.
  • Catalog (titles, descriptions, images, pricing) follows a field-level sync policy you control.
  • Orders placed on Shopify are pushed back to Lightspeed as sales, so your point of sale stays the system of record for the day’s takings.

What Syncwright does today

CapabilityWhat it does
No oversellingAccurate on-hand counts flow from Lightspeed to Shopify continuously, so you never sell stock you already sold in-store.
Barcode-accurate matchingItems match on UPC to Shopify barcode with a manufacturer-SKU fallback and an ambiguity guard, so no duplicates and no blind guessing.
Reconciliation safety netR-Series has no webhooks, so Syncwright polls on a delta cadence and reconciles on a schedule. A missed change corrects itself.
Product catalog syncTitles, descriptions, images, and pricing sync from Lightspeed on the scope and fields you choose.
Field-level sync policySet each field to ignore, fill if empty, or overwrite. Blank-safe, so an empty POS value never wipes good Shopify content.
Orders back to LightspeedOrders placed on Shopify are recorded in Lightspeed as sales, keeping your point of sale the system of record.
Auto smart collectionsYour Lightspeed categories and brands become Shopify smart collections you approve, with an optional hide-out-of-stock rule.
AI image enrichmentSource, clean, and standardize product photos, with approval before anything publishes or bills. First 50 images free.
Variant groupingSeparate Lightspeed items for each size and color are folded into one Shopify product with variants, review-first.
Switcher reconciliationMigrating from another tool links your existing Shopify catalog to Lightspeed instead of re-importing it, so no duplicates.
Inventory buffersHold back a safety margin so the last unit or two never sells online.
