How to sync Lightspeed inventory to Shopify

Five steps take you from two systems that disagree to one accurate count everywhere. This is how to connect Lightspeed Retail R-Series to Shopify and go live without overselling, usually in an afternoon.

// The steps

Connect to verified, in five steps

  1. 01

    Connect Lightspeed and Shopify

    Install Syncwright from your private install link and authorize your Lightspeed Retail R-Series account. One guided setup links the two systems. Your staff keep ringing up sales exactly as before, so there is nothing to retrain.

  2. 02

    Match your products

    Syncwright matches items on UPC to Shopify barcode, with a manufacturer-SKU fallback and a guard against ambiguous hits. Review the matches it proposes and confirm anything it flags, so you link your catalog instead of duplicating it.

  3. 03

    Choose what syncs

    Pick the products, collections, and fields you want live, and set a field-level sync policy so the POS owns the fields it should while you keep control of the rest. Approve the variant groups and smart collections Syncwright suggests.

  4. 04

    Go live

    Turn on inventory sync with Lightspeed as the source of truth. On-hand counts start flowing to Shopify continuously, and a scheduled reconciliation pass runs in the background so nothing quietly drifts.

  5. 05

    Verify no overselling

    Sell an item in-store and watch the online quantity drop. Check the needs-attention list to confirm there are zero conflicts. Once counts move together in both directions, you are in step for good.

// Before you start

What you need

  • A Lightspeed Retail R-Series account with your products and on-hand counts.
  • A Shopify store, new or established. An established catalog gets linked, not duplicated.
  • Barcodes or UPCs on your items, so matching is reliable. Syncwright flags anything it cannot match cleanly.
  • About an afternoon. Most shops connect, review suggestions, and go live the same day.
